This gallery is specifically dedicated to a series of illustrations that I call "Beauties and Beasties" — Basically, a portrait of a beauty accompanied by creatures, monsters, robots or what have you. Sometimes the beauty is also the beast. I am not sure how to categorize these paintings: Science-Fiction Art, Fantasy Art, Horror, Pinup?
In any case, please order some prints and make me some money. :)

Jhoneil > "Flight and Roses" I saw a friend of mine standing on her toes, and it seemed to me like she was floating. I like the idea of painting someone flying or floating, since I don't have to follow the laws of gravity as much. Originally, the painting only had the floating woman above a landscape, but, composition-wise it was not working. The roses were added after chatting with a friend about love, relationships and freedom. Not only was it a perfect solution to a bland composition, but it also added depth and meaning to the image.

The mechanical tentacle wrapping itself around her arm represents the creator as he marvels at his creation. The bandages wrapped around her are a nod to the old Hollywood Frankenstein movies.
